High-Precision Laser Etching, Laser Texturing & Laser Engraving for Molds
At Yuan Su, we utilize state-of-the-art GF AgieCharmilles 5-axis technology to provide world-class laser texturing services. Our digital laser engraving process achieves exquisite laser etching grains with unmatched precision, meeting international VDI 3400 standards.
Digital Excellence in Laser Engraving and Laser Texturing
Professional laser texturing for mold engraving uses layered carving to achieve exquisite textures. Compared to traditional chemical etching, our laser etching process is fully digital, requiring 3D software and automatic operation. Clients provide 3D drawings and selected patterns for precise execution.

With 5 GF AgieCharmilles (5-axis) machines and 20+ years of experience, we ensure your laser engraving project meets the highest standards of the mold texturing industry.

Advanced Laser Texturing Process:
- 1. Client provides 3D file and chooses laser texturing pattern.
- 2. Engineer programs texture onto 3D mold file.
- 3. Simulation of laser texturing in specialized software.
- 4. Pinpoint mold location on the 5-axis machine.
- 5. Begin precision laser engraving.
- 6. Adjust surface gloss to match VDI sandblasting requirements.

Why Choose 5-Axis Laser Texturing?
- • Eco-friendly and reliable laser etching solution.
- • Greater flexibility and repeatability for global mold projects.
- • Precise execution (5 microns variance) for technical mold grains.
- • Ideal for laser engraving complex and spherical shapes.

1. Laser mold etching on spherical surfaces is truly seamless.
2. Full software simulation ensures zero risk for expensive mold cavities.

Stereoscopic and Deep Laser Engraving
1. Special patterns like diamond edges and gradients are achieved easily through our laser texturing technology.
2. Deep laser engraving can reach up to 1mm depth or more for decorative industrial designs.
Laser etching vs chemical etching for molds depends on the depth of the texture, the complexity of the automotive mold structure, and the customer’s budget. Chemical etching is less expensive for ultra-large, simple leather textures; however, laser etching requires no film, is more environmentally friendly, and is seamless, offering a more aesthetically pleasing finish for geometric textures and high-precision automotive interior parts, but it is more expensive.
The cost of laser etching for plastic injection molds primarily calculated based on the laser processing time, the mold cavity structure, the complexity of the texture, and the ease of mold positioning on the machine. Multiple layers of patterns are needed to match complex cavity structures; for example, shallow or gradient patterns are required to avoid scratches. Multiple programs are needed to cover and combine these to achieve a perfect effect, resulting in longer processing times and higher prices.
Of course, multi-cavity molds, because they allow for program replication and continuous processing, have a more advantageous average cost per cavity compared to single-cavity molds.
Laser is achieved through precise pulse counting using a CNC laser, while texturing is accomplished through precise control of etching time / sandblasting ratio, combined with a high-precision depth gauge.
This is a strength of 3D laser engraving for complex mold geometry, but it must meet the requirement of unobstructed laser head angle. Through five-axis linkage technology, the surface of the laser mold can be processed vertically or at an angle, solving the problem of stretching and deformation of patterns on vertical walls.
